August is typically a quiet month with annual leave and school holidays. I definitely noticed a drop in email numbers (and an increase come September!) but as ever, Bristol Ageing Better has kept itself busy...
After some fantastic events in June and July, we have spent the summer listening to feedback and preparing our application to join the World Health organisation’s Global Network of age friendly communities. This should be submitted during November and we will keep you in the loop about its’ progress, we will also be in touch about our plans to implement the action plan in the city.
When we weren’t thinking about making Bristol an Age Friendly city, we were looking at Learning and Evaluation and considering kickstart plus applications. With only 18 months of the programme left, we need to ensure that we can collect learning from all parts of the programme and think about ways in which we can make a difference after March 2020. I personally would like to see most of our projects finding a way of sustaining themselves so that they can continue to improve the lives of isolated and lonely older people in Bristol.
I hope to be able to update you on all of these in the next update and look forward to seeing you soon.
