Celebrating older people's day

Celebrating older people's day
Posted By: , 1st October

On 1st October each year, we celebrate International Older People's Day and encourage conversations around the issues that affect them.  This is an important element of the day and something that BAB tries to do through all of our projects. I am proud of how older people are involved with and shape our programme, and grateful for the support we get from so many volunteers and participants across the city.

As a part of the day there was a further aim of raising visibility of older people as participating members of society and again this is goal that we continue to work towards. Many of our projects, especially Community Development, support older people to become increasingly involved in their communities and to get involved in how their local area looks and feels. I really enjoy hearing about these stories from our projects, but we are keen to find ways of ensuring that this kind of work goes on far beyond BAB. For now we can share the stories that we have and can share our learning to inspire and encourage similar work to grow and blossom.
