Older people watch children playing football

We are fast approaching the midpoint of Bristol Ageing Better and what a 913 days it has been!

Over 4000 older people have engaged with different activities and we have committed just over £4.5 million to projects seeking to tackle isolation and loneliness through a variety of approaches.

In the last year especially we have commissioned nine Community Development projects and three Community Navigator contracts which are all now developing well.

We are particularly excited to see the formal launch of the Community Navigators projects at the Celebrating Age Festival and to encourage people to access this fantastic service.

Despite all of this exciting work, the BAB Programme Management team aren’t resting on their laurels! Another round of Community Kick Start funding closes on Friday 6th October and we are preparing to release several large commissioning opportunities on Sunday 1st October 2017.

These opportunities will reflect the learning we have collected through work we have done to date.

The projects come from evidenced need in the city and are based on projects across the BAB programme so far which have found things that work and things that don’t.

We have collated this learning and from it we have developed business cases for a range of services that aim to help build confidence and wellbeing in older people in order to tackle their social isolation. Watch this space for more information!
