June is becoming a month where we see many things coming to fruition that we have been working on for some time. The first two years of Bristol Ageing Better have been about planning, developing and putting things in place and now we are starting to see activities, services and most importantly, positive stories from lonely and isolated older people in the city.
Nothing represents this change better than our new and improved website www.bristolageingbetter.org.uk . The website has always looked great, but with more activities and more delivery, we have tweaked and polished to make it easier for you to see what we have to offer.
Over the coming months, we will be putting more information on the website and with a new focus on the learning that is coming out of all of our projects. The “What We Are Learning” section will have overviews of our research and evaluation work as well as holding a library of the materials produced to showcase our delivery partners’ efforts.
After over a year of undertaking evaluation, we are just about ready to launch our new and improved Common Measurement Framework. These questionnaires are filled in by BAB participants when they start and end a project funded by us, and these help us show how our work has made a difference to a person’s life.
Our June will not be complete until we have delivered the “City for All Ages” week next week and launched our Charter for an Age Friendly Bristol. The Age Friendly Bristol project really represents a change for BAB, with the launch of a charter that calls individuals, organisations and decision makers to action in order to make Bristol a brilliant place to grow old. Have a look at our Age Friendly Community Chest fund that can help people make their areas better for older people.
As we get closer to the BAB programmes mid-point, we are moving at a good rate and cannot forget to use the learning to improve our way forward.
