The building blocks for wellbeing

The building blocks for wellbeing

As we reach the half-way point with Bristol Ageing Better, we are delighted to launch Building Blocks for Wellbeing, a round of commissioning with a total budget of £880,000.

This will be BAB’s last big commissioning opportunity, but also represents the learning that we have collected over the last two and a half years.

We have funded over 140 projects, falling into categories including our Community Kick Start, Wellbeing, Learning for Life Together and Group Work and Peer Support projects and it has been fascinating for us to hear the stories and learning from each of these.

You can see some stories in the BAB Voices section of our website and we are offering regular learning network meetings to share experiences in an open forum.

Over the last few months we have been working with our delivery partners to identify common themes and looking for aspects of the projects which worked well, as well as those that could be improved on.

A common point of learning was that if you can increase someone’s wellbeing and confidence, then this will have a positive effect on reducing their social isolation.

This has been confirmed through the delivery of our Community Development for Older People and Community Navigator projects, which have also identified gaps in services across the city.

Today we are launching nine new two year contracts - the ‘Building Blocks for Wellbeing’ – which are designed to complement our current delivery. We want to connect these with other projects across the BAB programme to build people up and create a foundation of confidence and wellbeing which will help to reduce social isolation.

Through these nine contracts, BAB will be able to fund new developed approaches and initiatives that will help to tackle isolation and loneliness across Bristol.

Please take a look at these bids and think about how you might want to be involved. We particularly encourage collaboration, and will be running two workshops on Wednesday 11th October to support this. You can find out more and book tickets here.
