Community Development for Older People

As people get older and retire, they are more likely to spend more of their time in their homes or immediate neighbourhood. It is therefore important for these neighbourhoods to be vibrant places with a wide range of social and cultural activities and opportunities for engagement. In areas where this currently does not exist, community development is an important process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems.

These are the Community Development for Older People projects we commissioned and currently fund:

  • Strategy, organisation and coordination city wide – Delivered by Linkage Network
  • Horefield and Lockleaze – Delivered by Buzz Lockleaze
  • Greater Brislington – Delivered by Bristol Charitie
  • LGBT+ Community – Delivered by BAB’s LGBT Community Development Officer, Sharifa Whitney James.
  • Greater Fishponds – Delivered by The Care Forum
  • Stockood – Delivered by St Monica Trust

Previously we have also funded:

  • Greater Bedminster – Delivered by St Monica Trust
  • Care Homes – Delivered by Alive
  • St Pauls – Delivered by Livewest
  • Old Market – Delivered by Livewest
