Positive wellbeing and good mental health are key elements of keeping people engaged and stopping them from being lonely. Experience elsewhere suggests that about 75% of the people identified as isolated and lonely are likely to have some form of mental health problem (mostly depression) – which could be the cause or result of their loneliness and isolation.
Join Bristol Ageing Better and partners at the event Ageing and Wellbeing: Vision for older adults wellbeing in Bristol. We will be showcasing the learning from BAB's 5 Wellbeing pilots projects. Wellspring Healthy Living Centre, Carers Support Centre in partnership with Dhek Bhal, Happy City, Second Step and Oasis-Talk were awarded a total of £75,000 to trial different approaches to solution-focused brief interventions to support those older people whose emotional problems contribute to their loneliness in the Autumn of 2016 to run these 9-month projects.
On the day, we will ask attendees to contribute to a vision for older people's emotional wellbeing in Bristol. BAB will be commissioning a larger Bristol Wellbeing project for older people in late September, this event will be an opportunity to be involved in consultation and feeding your ideas on the vision for these new projects.
