Who We Are
BAB is a partnership of individuals and organisations working together to reduce isolation and loneliness among older people in Bristol.
‘Involving participation with groups experiencing similar situations is a good way of stopping older people getting lonely’ (quote from a Carer during our BAB conversations while writing the bid).
This project aims to use groups and peers to help isolated and lonely individuals focus on their assets, abilities and potential routes to recovery and general wellbeing. Group activities mobilise the insights and empathy of people who have had similar situations.
Peer support provides a safe and understanding helping hand at difficult times in people’s lives, and gives hope of a better future.
There are many different types of Peer Support model and yet more group activities that can bring people together around a theme and encourage them to share and support each other.
BAB has funded 17 different Group work and Peer support Project so that we can test different models, learn from them and commission larger and longer contracts in 2017.
