We are delighted to launch three further Invitations to Tenders to deliver projects within the Bristol Ageing Better Programme. These contracts represent three different elements of the programme all aiming to tackle isolation and loneliness in different ways.
As part of our blueprint for Community development in September 2016, we proposed a project that would trial a model of community development that worked with LGBT people across Bristol to create a supportive network that reduced isolation, improved social contact and encouraged participants to be more involved in local decision making. We are now inviting tenders for this project, which will run for 2 years and has a budget of £100,000.
Stockwood was once a busy community with many families but with 40% of the local population over 55 (compared with 29% for the whole of Bristol), it has one the largest ageing populations in the city. Due to this ageing population in a previously family focussed community, there is a lack of coordination and infrastructure and support services. We are looking for a provider who will engage older people with people of all ages in the area and empower them to take a more active role in the community. The budget for this contract is £100,000 and the duration is 2 years.
BAB is working in partnership with the South Bristol Primary Care Collaborative (SBPCC) to develop and deliver an integrated community clinic or leg club. All clinical input will be provided by SBPCC and we are seeking a provider to coordinate the community aspects of the programme, including recruiting and supporting volunteers within the project, working closely with SBPCC to ensure a smooth running of the clinics and supporting the evaluation of the pilot. The contract is for 12 months and the budget is £25,000.
Further information is available in the commissioning packs available on the BAB website. The Programme Director will also be available on the following dates for potential bidders to book an appointment to discuss the projects further:
