Who We Are
BAB is a partnership of individuals and organisations working together to reduce isolation and loneliness among older people in Bristol.
Positive wellbeing and good mental health are key elements of keeping people engaged and stopping them from being lonely. Experience elsewhere suggests that about 75% of the people identified as isolated and lonely are likely to have some form of mental health problem (mostly depression) – which could be the cause or result of their loneliness and isolation.
There are many different approaches to time-limited, solution focused wellbeing interventions. Through this project, we will be testing different methods of wellbeing interventions to reduce the isolation and loneliness of older people and learning about which are the most effective. Ideas for the pilot projects may include a clinical approach to improving wellbeing, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), or could involve more holistic interventions.
