Who We Are

Bristol Ageing Better (BAB) was a partnership of individuals and organisations that worked together to reduce isolation and loneliness among older people in Bristol, it ran from 2015 to 2022.

BAB was set up in 2015, to create an environment in which organisations could deliver effective services, share their knowledge of what works, and be noticed by the people who matter. The partnership was led by Age UK Bristol and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund as part of their Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better programme, using National Lottery funding. The main purpose of this funding was to support those older people most at risk of social isolation and loneliness to lead more fulfilling lives; BAB was one of 14 areas across England involved in the process.

During the course of the programme, BAB funded 26 projects and 18 pilot projects all focused on preventing loneliness among older people in Bristol. The BAB partnership involved over 150 organisations focused on reducing isolation and loneliness among older people and represented a wide spectrum of organisations, including statutory, voluntary and commercial organisations.

The BAB programme is set to close at the end of March 2022 however, all of the learning and evaluation will still be available to view on this website and on Age UK Bristol's website.
